Sandalphon the Archangel

Archangel Sandalphon

Archangel Sandalphon is the ruling Angel and Protector of Earth and a Master of music. He also rules the seventh heaven and is known as an Angel of Mercy and an Angel of Prayer.

Sandalphon figures prominently in the mystical literary traditions of Rabbinic Judaism and early Christianity, notably in the Midrash, Talmud, and Kabbalah.

He is said to be one of the tallest Angels, so that he may reach easily from the Earth to the Heavens, although he showed himself to us as being quite small and compact.

Sandalphon is only one of two archangels whose name doesn't end with an "el" (which means "God" in Hebrew). Sandalphon's name means "brother" in Greek, a reference to his twin brother, the Archangel Metatron.

They are the only archangesls who were originally mortal men. Sandalphon was the prophet Elijah, and Metatron was the prophet Enoch.

Elijah was one of the important Biblical prophets, who lived in the 9th C BC during the times of King Ahab and his wicked queen Jezebel. Elijah is regarded by all faiths (Jews, Christians, Muslims and Druze) as a healer, a miracle maker, and a great spiritual warrior who stood against the might of Kings and false prophets. He is incorporated in many of the religious accounts.

In the Kabbalah Sandalphon rules sphere 10 - Malkuth, which means "Kingdom".
